How do I go about placing a custom order?

Email me and tell me what you want to purchase with as much details about fabric, color, style as possible. If you don't know exactly, but just have a general idea, that's ok, too. We will work together to design something that's right up your alley! If you are ordering a corset, I will send you my Corset Order Info list that has all the details to placing a corset order with me. Once you have filled out that information, provided measurements and payment has been made, your order will go in my order queue. If you are ordering a garment and we've worked out the garment's details, I will send you information on what measurements I need and payment information. When that's all set, your order goes into my order queue.

There might be a lot more emailing back and forth between the customer and myself than most places, but it's important to me that each detail is worked out as best as possible. I like having a close rapport with you and I think you will appreciate the care I have for you as a customer and for whatever it is you have decided to order.

Can you make me this (insert item of choice) just like So-and-so (insert designer's name)?

It depends. If it is something specific to that designer, then probably not. I respect other designers' work and the effort they put in to creating their own designs. If it it something not so specific that is frequently seen among many designers and it something kind of standard, then probably yes.

Please know that I create on various levels. Some of my work is based off of or inspired by historial patterns, sometimes contemporary patterns (but never 100% reproduced) and sometimes they are my own design. My inspiration comes from numerous places, including other designers! But that is just inspiration. It's important to see what others are doing (or not doing) for one's own work to grow. One cannot create entirely in a vacuum.

What types of fabrics do you offer, and can I provide my own fabric?

I have a lot of fabric. It’s a bit of an addiction that I‘m trying to be better about. That said, if you have an idea for a particular type of fabric that is not listed on the website, please let me know. I may have it or something similar or I can shop around for what you are looking for and special order it. Special ordering fabric will add to the cost of your order and you will know what the cost is when we work on your order. Do you have fabric that you would like to send to me to use for your garment or corset?

Let me know ahead of time, prior to placing your order, to make sure that I can work with what you have and that you have enough fabric for me to work with! I always need to have extra in case I need to re-cut anything along the way. In some cases, sending your own fabric may allow for a reduction to the cost of the item depending on what you are ordering. There are no cost reductions if you send me fabric for a corset.

Can I add custom details to a corset?

I can add decorative external bone casings (I put twill bone casings on the inside of the corset automatically), lace trim, ruffles, etc to any corset, but for an additional charge to the cost of the corset. Let me know if you have ideas or what you have in mind, so I can provide you with a price quote.

Where do I find your size chart?

Unless the item is ready made or otherwise indicated, all my garments and corsets are custom made to your measurements. I do not go by dress sizes (4,10, 18) because they are never truly standard. Some designer's size 8, might fit like a 6 or 10. It is very inconsistent in the garment industry. That is why I work on measurements alone. Upon ordering, I will send you an email requesting specific measurements depending on what garment you are ordering and my measurement chart. It is important that measurements are taken carefully and not in a rush. I cannot be held responsible for mis-measuring! You can have a friend help you or even go to a local seamstress or tailor and have them measure you. Take in to consideration if you are currently on a weight loss program or have been sick (quickly lost a lot of weight and are likely to go back to your normal weight). You might also consider (for reproduction garments) if you plan on wearing a corset with the item. If you really like an item, but are concerned that the cut of the garment might not be flattering on you, let’s talk! I might be able to adjust the cut of the garment to be a little more accommodating or flattering to your body type! This adjustment may incur an extra cost.

How can I pay for my purchase?

I accept two payment methods. You can pay by Paypal using your credit card or bank account. If you choose this method, I will email you a payment invoice for the amount and you follow the Paypal directions for submitting payment. Orders outside of the United States must use Paypal for payment. The other method of payment that I accept (US orders only) are money orders from the post office (USPS). I believe these only cost $0.90. If you would like to pay with a USPS money order, please let me know and I will send you my mailing address. USPS money orders must be made out to: Astrid Weinstock.

Can I pay for my order over time?

I completely understand what it is like to pine for a garment, but not have the financial means to purchase it! This is why I accept time payments (in addition to trying to keep my pricing as reasonable as possible)! In most cases, I generally ask for half of the final cost of your order up front (cost of item plus shipping), which gets the work started, and the second half due upon completion of your order, but prior to shipment. However, I am flexible if you need to stretch out payment. Please note that payments are *not* refundable if you change your mind at any time. If you do need to stretch your payments out longer than what we originally agree upon at ordering time, all I ask is that you keep me informed! I know things come up, but if I do not hear from you for months and I can’t get in touch with you, I will most likely assume you will no longer complete your order.

What is your refund policy?

99.9999% of the time, I will *not* offer refunds. Especially if it is a custom made item! I will consider working something out with you if there is a issue of construction, but not with sizing as it is your responsibility when providing measurements. I do want you to be happy with your order. Please let me know as soon as you receive your item if there is anything that concerns you!

What types of shipping do you offer and how much does shipping cost?

When I ship, I like to make your package look interesting and fun! If you do not want all the bells and whistles, please say so and I will do discreet packaging. Shipping is typically made via USPS Priority Mail and rates will be determined upon your order. Jewelry will cost approximately $4.00 and garments will cost approx. $6 - $10. All custom orders must be insured. Otherwise, insurance is at your discretion. I cannot be held responsible once your package is in the mail.

INTERNATIONAL Buyers: Please contact me for shipping rates.

Overnight/Express shipping is available. Please inquire.

I have another question--how do I contact you?

Email me! I am happy to chat with you and answer your questions to the best of my ability. I generally answer emails within 24-36 hours, but usually sooner. If you don't hear from me, send me another email. It could be that I am swamped or might be out of town for a few days. If I am out of town for more than just a couple of days, I will make an announcement on my website and/or livejournal page. Click here to view my LiveJournal.
